Setlwork for Europe

A single skills and capability profile, usable across borders.

For Europeans building careers across the UK and EU.

Setlwork turns evidence of what you have actually done into a structured skills and capability profile, then reads that profile against recognised UK and European skills standards, real occupations and current labour-market demand.

Build it once. Use it to understand which roles you are closest to, what stands between you and becoming competitive, and what to try and do about it.

How it works

One skills and capability profile, read across European labour markets.

Different countries describe work differently.

At the individual user level, Setlwork provides a single, evidence-based profile and links it to standards, roles, and demand.

Interlocking modular shapes in different colours fitting together as a single structure, standing for a shared skills standard.
Capability from evidence

Built from what you have actually done

Setlwork reads evidence from individual CVs and the contextual data provided about their work, study and experience. It identifies the skills and capabilities demonstrated in that evidence rather than asking you to simply select skills from a list and rate yourself.

Mapped to European standards

Your skills and capabilities, expressed in the language of the market

Your profile is mapped against recognised skills standards. For European roles, Setlwork uses the published crosswalk between the UK Standard Skills Classification and ESCO, the European Commission's classification of skills and occupations.

Read against real roles

See how close you already are

Setlwork compares your existing evidence with the requirements of different occupations. You can see what your experience already supports, where the gaps are, and which skills and capabilities are most important to focus on.

Set against real demand

Know where the opportunity exists

You may have the skills and capabilities for a desired role, but there may not be the opportunities in the market you are considering. Setlwork places the role alongside current advertised demand across 31 European countries, so readiness and opportunity can be considered together.

The Setlwork 5

The capabilities beneath the classification.

Countries may classify occupations and skills differently.

The human capabilities that allow people to learn, adapt and perform travel more readily.

Setlwork measures five underlying foundational capabilities from evidence of what a person has actually done.

Reflective Practice

The metacognitive capability to notice and learn from one's own performance.

Emotional Intelligence

The relational capability to understand emotions in oneself and with others.

Resilience

The adaptive capability to persist through challenging times and keep moving.

Self-Efficacy

The agentic capability to believe in yourself and act with confidence under uncertainty.

Adaptive Communication

Beyond simple communication skills, understanding the importance of body language, tone, facial expressions, timing, and knowing how to say things in the best way in different situations and environments.

Skills describe what you can technically do today. Capability helps show how well you will do things now and how ready you are for what comes next.

How scoring works

Our skills engine reads the evidence. Algorithms do the scoring.

Our bespoke AI-powered skills engine, underpinned by academic research, interprets the evidence you provide and identifies the capabilities demonstrated within it.

Once the evidence has been structured, scoring follows deterministic rules. The same evidence produces the same calculation, and the result can be traced back to how it was reached.

Either market

One skills and capability profile, usable across multiple labour markets.

The UK and EU use different systems to describe occupations and skills.

Setlwork connects them through the published crosswalk between the UK standard and ESCO, allowing the same underlying profile to be read against either market.

Within Europe

Readiness, demand and mobility.

For EU citizens moving within the EU, sponsorship is generally not the central question.

What matters is whether your qualifications, experience, skills and capabilities fit the role, where that role is in demand, and what other requirements may affect your ability to move into it.

Setlwork shows:

  • readiness against European occupations using ESCO
  • current advertised demand by country
  • where language or local professional requirements may become the real barrier
Coming to the UK

When work permission becomes part of the decision.

Moving from the EU into the UK introduces a different constraint.

It is no longer enough to know whether an employer holds a sponsor licence. The individual role also needs to be capable of meeting the requirements for sponsorship.

Setlwork brings three things together:

  • Your readiness for the role
  • Whether the role is currently classified as sponsorable
  • Whether the relevant salary threshold is met

The Home Office maintains the official register of licensed sponsors. Setlwork adds the job-level intelligence: which employers are actually recruiting and whether a specific vacancy appears capable of sponsorship.

Both readings run on the same profile you build once, because a published crosswalk links the UK and EU standards. Setlwork is aligned to and interoperable with both. Neither publisher endorses us.

The UK Standard Skills Classification ships a published crosswalk to ESCO, the European Commission's skills and occupations standard. All 3,350 UK skills carry an ESCO match, which is what lets one profile be read on both sides. Setlwork is aligned to and interoperable with both standards. Neither publisher endorses Setlwork.
